The StringChair is the latest addition from the Hungarian designers who created the StringBike. It’s a classy Add-on which allows you to propel your Wheelchair using two handles. This not only allows more speed, but greater endurance and the ability to cover rough terrain with the added leverage. Usually when pushing a Wheelchair, it’s a fairly unnatural movement for the shoulder. A rotator cuff injury is the most common for long term Wheelchair users because of the repetitive strain on such a small muscle group, especially when turning. With Stringchair, this problem is solved, push to go forward, pull back to brake; this movement puts less force on the rotator cuff since there’s no need to squeeze your palms to steer with StringChair.

The great thing is, it has 4 different resistance levels to change the leverage of the push handles. It can also be added to almost any Wheelchair. All that is required is a Wheel change, the fitting of the strings which takes under 10 minutes.
